No es un secreto que este año me
he dedicado casi exclusivamente al proyecto gráfico de Danny Homan, Starve the beast, y por el momento mis
velas no soplan hacia otro horizonte. Starve
me ha llevado a lugares insospechados, como debe hacer toda obra digna de
consumirse. Me ha puesto eufórico, de malas, de cabeza, luego en orden, y me ha
trasladado de un mundo de luz y color, experimentando con tonalidades
superpuestas, a lo más sombrío de mí. Las páginas originales son en color, pero
no puedo sino maravillarme con lo agradables que devienen cuando regresan a la
desaturación. El gris y yo siempre hemos sido buenos amigos.
También es un deleite ver la
evolución de las páginas en términos de detalle. No cabe duda que cada día estamos
haciendo un mejor libro. Aunque quizá solo el lector puede decirlo.

It’s no secret I have devoted myself this year
to Danny Homan’s new graphic project, Starve the beast, and there is no change on
my sails in the near horizon. Starve has taken me to unsuspected places, as
every worth consuming work must do. It has made me euphoric, it has forced me
to frown, even to break, and it has put me back together, first into a world of
overlaid light and color, then into my darkest self.
Pages for this book are originally in color,
but I can’t stop myself from noticing how beautiful do colors become when
de-saturated. Greyscale and I have been friends for a long time. It’s also a
delight to see how illustrations have evolved in terms of detail. No doubt we
are doing better every day.
